Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Your 4-day shared desert tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with an early pickup from your accommodation or an accessible meeting point in Fes.

Travel south to Ifrane, a peaceful mountain town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Stop to explore the town and take photographs before continuing toward the cedar forests near Azrou. Here, you may see the native Barbary macaques in their natural environment.

Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Midelt, where you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Lunch is not included.

In the afternoon, cross the Tizi n’Talghamt Pass and admire the landscapes of the Ziz Gorges. Stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Ziz Valley, famous for its extensive palm groves and date production.

Pass through Erfoud, a town known for dates, fossils and mineral workshops, before arriving at the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga.

At the edge of the dunes, meet your camel guide and begin a sunset camel ride lasting approximately one to one-and-a-half hours. Stop on a high dune to watch the sunset, take photographs and try sandboarding if you wish.

Continue to your luxury desert camp, where you will be welcomed with Moroccan mint tea. After settling into your private tent, enjoy dinner followed by Berber music around the campfire and stargazing.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Nomad Family – Khamlia – Oasis Tour

Wake up in the Sahara and enjoy breakfast at the luxury camp. After breakfast, begin a 4×4 excursion around the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Travel across the desert to discover panoramic viewpoints, fossil areas and the black volcanic landscape surrounding the dunes. Visit a local nomad family living in traditional tents and learn about their lifestyle, animals and daily life in the Sahara.

Continue to Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa community and spiritual music. Meet local musicians and experience their traditional rhythms and songs.

Depending on the season and water conditions, you may also stop at Dayet Srij Lake. Migratory birds, including flamingos, may sometimes be seen here, but their presence cannot be guaranteed.

Stop for lunch in Merzouga or Hassi Labied. Lunch is not included, allowing you to choose and pay directly at the restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit the Hassi Labied oasis. Walk through the palm gardens and learn how local families use the traditional irrigation system to cultivate crops near the desert.

Return to the luxury camp in the afternoon. Enjoy free time to shower, rest, walk on the dunes or watch the changing colours of the desert.

Dinner is served at the camp, followed by another peaceful evening beneath the Sahara stars.

Day 3: Merzouga – Tissardmine – Black Desert – Safsaf Oasis

After breakfast at the camp, depart at approximately 9:00 AM for a full-day 4×4 journey to Safsaf Oasis.

Leave the Erg Chebbi dunes behind and travel off-road through the remote desert landscapes east of Merzouga. Pass traditional Berber villages before reaching Tissardmine village and oasis, where you can see palm trees, traditional homes and the contrast between the green oasis and the surrounding desert.

Continue across the black hamada, a rocky desert landscape formed by dark volcanic rocks. Stop along the route to discover ancient fossil areas, enjoy panoramic views and take photographs.

Visit local nomad families who live in this remote region. Share Moroccan tea inside or beside their traditional tent and learn about their daily lifestyle far from the towns and villages.

Continue toward Safsaf Oasis, located approximately 40 kilometres off-road from Merzouga near the Algerian border. This hidden oasis is known for its palm trees, natural water, desert vegetation and peaceful surroundings.

Walk through the oasis and enjoy free time beneath the palm trees. Water levels vary according to the season and recent rainfall, so swimming cannot be guaranteed.

A traditional lunch will be prepared for you in the desert. Enjoy Madfouna, also known as Berber pizza, made with fresh local ingredients and traditionally cooked in or beneath the hot desert sand. The meal is served with Moroccan salad and fresh mint tea.

After lunch, relax in the shade and enjoy the quiet atmosphere before beginning the return journey. Stop at additional viewpoints, fossil areas or nomad locations depending on the available time and local conditions.

Return toward Erg Chebbi, with a possible stop to enjoy the late-afternoon light or sunset over the desert landscape. Arrive back at the luxury camp at approximately 6:00 PM.

Enjoy a shower and time to relax before your final dinner at the camp. Spend the evening around the campfire with traditional Berber music and stargazing.

Travel through the desert landscapes of southern Morocco toward the Draa Valley, an area known for its extensive palm groves, traditional villages and historic kasbahs. Stop at panoramic viewpoints for short breaks and photographs.

Continue toward Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the Sahara and known for its film studios and desert architecture. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Lunch is not included.

After lunch, continue across the mountain landscapes of southern Morocco and cross the High Atlas Mountains. The road offers impressive views of valleys, peaks and traditional mountainside villages.

Arrival in Marrakech is normally expected in the evening, depending on traffic, weather, road conditions and the duration of scheduled stops.
